Types of Plusnet Fibre broadband explained
The type of broadband you select at Plusnet will be determined as to whether you want a short contract or don’t mind being tied into a standard 12 or 18 month contract, how fast you want your downloads to be and whether you want to bundle the broadband with calls and TV deals.
Plusnet Fibre Broadband
Plusnet Fibre is the mid-range fibre broadband option at average speeds of 36Mb per second and is up to 8x faster than standard broadband.
Usage is unlimited and contracts can be taken over 18 months or 12 months with the option of adding line rental to the package for a small extra month charge.
The Plusnet Hub One is included with fibre broadband contracts which acts as a dual band wi-fi router.
Plusnet Fibre Extra Broadband
The Plusnet Fibre Extra Broadband option is the fastest fibre broadband on offer from Plusnet with average speeds of 66Mb. You will also get unlimited usage, the option to add extras to the bundle and you will receive the Plusnet Hub One wireless router as part of the package.
You will have the option to take out the contract over 12 or 18 months – with the longer 18 month choice being the cheaper option.
How does Plusnet Fibre broadband compare?
Plusnet fibre broadband is straightforward in that you will have two speed options to choose from, either 36Mb per second or 66Mb per second and you can choose to take out your contract over 12 months or 18 months. There are additional options that you can add on such as TV and call packages but overall the offer is refreshingly simple as opposed to the complicated offers that can be found at some other broadband providers.
In terms of broadband speeds Plusnet are around about the average when compared to the likes of TalkTalk, EE, Sky and BT so with either fibre broadband speed option you should expect to be able to stream content on multiple devices, use the Internet and check emails with no buffering or slowdown in service speeds at all.

The ability to get Plusnet fibre broadband will depend on where you live within the UK. Plusnet is owned by BT so that means the chances of you being able to get fibre-optic Plusnet broadband are high because BT has the widest broadband coverage area in the UK.
Pricing is typically cheaper than the parent company BT’s pricing because although they share an infrastructure, Plusnet install their own equipment in telephone exchanges and as a consequence can provide cost savings which are passed onto the company.
Plusnet fibre broadband uses the same technology as the BT Infinity (Superfast) network infrastructure so the availability will be dependent on whether BT has rolled out superfast broadband in an area close to you.
