Do anytime calling packages include unlimited call minutes?

An anytime calling package means, as the name suggests, that calling someone on this plan should be allowed at any time during the day or night.

There are some caveats to this, however, which you should carefully look into with your selected provider in terms of whether the anytime calls are unlimited or not.

There can be distinctions made between anytime calls to landlines and to mobiles. Some broadband providers allow anytime calls to both landline and mobile without call minute limits whereas some will stipulate unlimited anytime calls for landline but limited for mobile calls.

Also it is common for many broadband providers to start charging for calls if a single call exceeds 60 minutes in length so keeping calls below 60 minutes at a time is advised (disconnecting a call before 60 minutes and connecting again would be fine).

Do I really need unlimited broadband and anytime calls?

These days the vast majority of broadband packages are marketed as unlimited data transfer. As our data needs have increased due to increased levels of streaming, gaming, downloading and general Internet usage, the broadband companies have recognised this increased need and created packages that cater for higher levels of usage.

Some providers have what are known as fair usage policies, however, these will not usually be relevant for most users unless they are using their broadband line for extremely high bandwidth purposes over sustained, long periods of time.

So whether you wish to take out an unlimited broadband plan or not, you will most likely only get to choose from “unlimited” which is no bad thing in our book.
